1995 Chevy Suburban starter replaced and just goes thunk even with shims?

   use a ratchet and socket to try to turn the motor over manualy if you cant then your motor is locked up if you can take off the starter and take it to a auto parts store and have the starter tested i have bought bad starters at parts stores before
