    Hello there

Let me clear your thoughts. Green card divorces are quite important in this process and have significant consequences depending on your immigration status. As you know that the divorce process is always handled by the courts in the state you live in, the immigration process is handled by the federal governments United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Office.

Conditional permanent residence means that anytime the permanent residence ship can be terminated without any notice, if it is determined that the marriage was not more than a sham. It is quite important to know that the marriage is considered a sham when the spouses marry only for the green card.

Anyhow back to the topic and let me explain you again that if the immigrant spouse is divorcing the U.S. citizen spouse, then the relationship may have deteriorated to a point where the U.S. citizen spouse does not agree to file the joint petition to remove the conditions.

There are possible affects of divorce and it totally depends on the condition of your immigration status.

    Thanks
