    After defeating 16th seed Virginie Razzano in the first round, Yanina Wickmayer has sailed through to the semifinals of the US Open without encountering another seeded player. Sure, she has put together a string of wins but Wickmayer needs to beat some higher quality opposition of the kind Melanie Oudin did en route to her quartefinal appearance to be touted as a rising star.
