With the present positions of all teams on the points table, can we expect another Pakistan and India quarter final like the one we had back in 1996?

If we look at the points table, Pakistan and India have already qualified for the quarter finals. Australia after beating Canada has moved up to the top position in group 'A' followed by New Zealand, Pakistan and the hosts Sri Lanka. On ther other hand South Africa tops group 'B' beating India after a nail biting finish. Yet India stands 2nd in the group followed by West Indies and Bangladesh. Surprisingly ,the English team is yet to beat West Indies if they are to play the quarter final, failing which it will be Bangladesh who would be in the knockout round for the first time ever. Now Pakistan and India can come across each other if the position of all the teams remains the same which is virtually not possible as there are few more matches to be played in the group stage. The next possibility is that India gets to the 1st position in the group stage, beating West Indies in their last group match and Pakistan slides down to the fourth position in their group losing to the mighty Australian team. Keeping in view India's present performance and Pakistan's performance against Australia and the big winning streak of the kangaroos, that the chances of Indo-Pak quarter final are quite inevitable.
