As there is no definite exact amount of species known to humans on both land and in water, out of those that have been documented it is believed that the oceans of the world contain the most variety of species.  This must hold true considering majority of the worlds ocean floor has yet to be researched and discovered.  Scientists are still finding new species on both land and in water everyday, but those found in the water far outeigh those found on land.
