Nuclear industry's aims were seriously hurt when the Fukushima No. 1 plant in Japan was destroyed by a devastating  earthquake and tsunami. However, political leaders and experts believe that the Australia's uranium export is unlikely to be disturbed  by the nuclear crisis.

Although Australia does not consume nuclear power, it is the world's third-ranking uranium producer behind Kazakhstan and Canada, exporting some 9600 tonnes of uranium oxide concentrate annually worth over 1.09 billion U.S. dollars.
