Between the crocodile and hippo which causes the most human deaths?

   Hippos win this one because they are able to run faster than humans and can trample all over a human, and have jaws that open nearly 180 degress with a deadly strong bite force.  The fact that they can move fast on land and exceptionally well in the water there are more avenues for a hippo to attack a human than a crocodile.

   Hippo – Estimated 100 Human Deaths/Year. (Based on National Geographic, no official statistics) .Most deaths occur when the victim gets between the hippo and deep water or between a mother and her calf.

   
   

   Crocodile – Estimated 1,000 Human Deaths/Year (Based on National Geographic, no official statistics)  Nile crocodiles cause the most deaths, more than all the other crocodiles combined. Nile crocodiles live in close proximity to human populations, so contact is more frequent.
