I have Vista installed on my Home PC and I want to know that can I upgrade from vista home to windows 7 premium. What are the steps required for the installation, are they same as compared to the normal installation of vista or they are different?

In most of the Windows 7 coverage, Vista Home Basic users are now left out because Microsoft does not offer a direct upgrade path to the Windows 7. For this type of group of consumers, switching to upcoming operating system (OS) requires a fresh and clean reinstall. However, this also poses a problem. Besides the problem of having to download it and install drivers for the new type of OS, it is certain bundled programs like media players or a proprietary power management software that are available only for the recovery CDs and now cannot be downloaded.
But now there is an alternative. If you upgrade from Vista Home Basic to Home Premium for only S$274.29, you are now eligible for the free copy of Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade CD after when it launches in October 22. This will allow to keep the drivers and programs from the Vista Home Basic to all the way to the new OS. However, though the Microsoft claims that most of Vista hardware drivers and software will not work in Windows 7, there will still be the compatibility issues. As such, we so far cannot guarantee that all types of components and the applications will port a flaw to the new OS after the upgrade. We would like this advise of checking with the hardware vendor before performing up gradation of the OS.
