Light is electromagnetic radiation in a certain frequency range. It is similar whether it is from the Sun or an electric lamp. Lights from different sources differ from each other in their intensity and the distribution of wavelengths in their spectrum (colour composition of its spectrum). Photosynthesis can indeed take place in the light emitted by an electric lamp if has enough intensity of red and blue light.

This is so because it is only the light having wavelengths/frequency corresponding to blue and red colors, which participates actively in the photosynthesis. In fact plants are grown in some laboratories under synthetic conditions, that is, conditions that are not natural. Often plants are grown in greenhouses that have arrangement for artificial lighting. People also keep plants indoors where very little if any sunlight is available.

the plant wont grow as good as it would in sunlight if it were in lamplight, plants need the naturleness, and a regular lightbulb would just kill the plant or not make it grow at all..u'd need like florecent lightbullbs. but if ur doin this in tha winter the sunlight isnt gunna be out as long as it wouuld in the summer so it mite grow better in lamp light (only in the winter!!!). unless u gotta green house or something like that lamp light would be the bst in winter, but in the summer the sunlight would definently be the best source for the plants growth.

MY prediction on “do plants grow better under sunlight or artificial light” would be sunlight. The warmth of the sunlight would enable the plant to grow healthy, and provide the nutrients that it needs. It would definitely be sunlight because plants need as much vitamin d as we do. However, if the plant was under the sunlight for to long, it could also dry the cells and kill the plant. Water is another main supporter to plants, it feeds the plants and it makes there roots stronger. Those two things make a good combination for plants. If the living plant was under a artificial light, lets say a light bulb it could also make the plant grow tall. But because of no nutrients or vitamin d the plant wont live for long. An artificial light would work to, for a short period of time because it would actually give light to the plant 24/7.The sun admits more energy than an Artificial light would. But they still do grow well in artificial lighting.
