    Hi There,
    Assuming close packing, I think the following works: where n is the number of layers, d is the diameter, the height of a stack is (n-1) * sin 60° * d + d
    for 6 layers of 0.7112 dia. pipe, 5 * 0.866 * 0.7112 + 0.7112 = 3.79 ; 3.79 < 4 and it is fairly obvious that 7 layers will be higher than 4m
