Do I need to quote Australian Business Number for BOQ shares?

I live in Australia and just opened an account with BOQ.  I want to know what will happen if I dont give my ABN to the bank

    You are not obliged to quote your TFN or ABN, however tax may be deducted from unfranked portions of payments at the highest marginal rate.
