The new engine will also be more efficient as compared tothe engine of previous model. It has the feature of cylinder deactivation and dual variable valve timing. The bottom grille is installed to flip upside down which is totally different from the 2008-10. According to Chrysler engineers that airflow is the main reason for the change in it. For the new SRT8's, the chin spoiler was also rebuilt and has increased size to produce more downforce. It will look like the '70 Challenger R/T. after that, a revived SRT8 will come into production, with the new 392-cubic-inch (6.4L) HEMI V8. The new engine will attribute Variable Camshaft Timing, and also has the Multiple Displacement System featured on the 5.7L HEMI V8. The 392 has officially been rated at 470 horsepower (350 kW) and 470 lb•ft (640 N•m) of torque. With new engine Challenger SE 2011 is likely to attain 18/26 mpg on the city highway as the previous Challenger of 2010 having 3.5 liters V6 attained 17/25 mpg on the highway. Dodge engineers said they worked hard to get maximum horsepower ratings for low-end torque, mentioning a 90 horsepower (67 kW) improve over the outgoing 6.1-L (370 c.i.d.) Hemi V8 at 2900 rpm. credit goes to revised engine, Chrysler engineers mentioned a quarter mile (~400 m) period of 12.4 seconds at 110 mph (180 km/h) - improving the outgoing 6.1-Liter Hemi by 0.8 seconds. However, that figure has changed in many automotive magazines.
