Does anyone have any recommendations on great areas to buy a house in Ottawa?

    I currently live in Ottawa, having moved here after university 6 years ago and would recommend it as an excellent place to live, work and raise a family. Although there is housing throughout the city and surrounding parts, my recommendation would be to look for areas towards the cities West end. I myself live in Kanata and surrounding areas such as Stittsville and Carp are undergoing a lot of growth and high quality building. There are also vast pockets of protected green space ensuring that there will not be overpopulation and over building. Also be aware that there is still a tremendous amount of open space and farm land that has not been developed.

   
   

   Houses here are more expensive than the East end or South of the city, but this is due to great ammenities and lots of demand. Schools are excellent while proximity to both local highways - the 416 and 417 is also very close. Beyond this public transportation hubs are plentiful and crime rates are low.
