Question:

Egg Bound Hen or Broody?

Our hens are about a year old and have been laying well for a few months. To encourage them to be broody, we were leaving the eggs in the nest. After a week one of them started setting, but I'm not sure it's broodiness. She had a bit of trouble getting back up to the nesting boxes and doesn't get off. When I picked her up and got her outside, she started acting normally. Yesterday she had a HUGE poo. Today a greenish liquid one. She hasn't laid an egg today. I'm worried she might be egg bound, but I don't see an egg in her vent. Any help would be greatly appreciated! We are so worried.
Thanks!

This is me again, adding a few more details. I forgot that a few days ago she was in the run and I saw her lay a shell-less egg right there. It just had the membrane. I have heard this could be okay, but was a little worried when she pecked at it and both hens ate it up quickly. Also she seems really sluggish until I got her outside, and she seemed to wake up a bit. When on the nest she fluffs up and spreads her self out a lot. She does make a few growling noises, but never looks like she would peck and doesn't really get very angry if you try to pick her up or reach for her. I heard that if it is egg-binding that she might die very quickly, so please help! We are so worried!

Okay another update from me, I think our hen might have mites... Any help with this?? She was looking more energetic today though, but still hasn't laid an egg.

Another update: This morning still no egg but yellow stuff coming out of her vent!
