    Hi There,
England's Ashes heroes have been named team of the year at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards in Sheffield.

BBC viewers voted in favour of Andrew Strauss’ side, who beat Australia 2-1 in this summer’s five-match Test series to regain the urn.

England also won back the Wisden Trophy at the start of the summer, having relinquished it to West Indies at the beginning of the year in the Caribbean.

They also beat the Windies home and away in the one-day arena and reached the super eights stage of the ICC World Twenty20.

More recently, England reached the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy, drew the Twenty20 series against South Africa and prevailed in the one-day rubber. The first of four Tests versus the Proteas begins on Wednesday.

Strauss, speaking from Johannesburg, said: "It's a truly great honour for us and the lads are chuffed to bits.

"It has been a long and arduous 12 months with lots of ups and downs and we have stuck together through some pretty tough times. That, ultimately, is what got us over the line in the Ashes."

The awards were held in front of an audience of 11,000 people at the Sheffield Arena.

England previously won the award after the Ashes victory in 2005.

    Thanks
