Epson r1900 - Source in printer driver is incorrect?

I've just purchased an Epson r1900 and am trying to test print a photo from Adobe Photoshop Elements 8. The photo is 4x6, and I tried to print it on a single sheet of glossy photo paper, but couldn't get the machine to pick up the edge of the paper. So, I switched to regular printer paper - bright white, single sheet of 8.5x11. I changed all of the settings and tried to print, but I keep getting the following pop-up error message:

The Source selected in the printer driver is not appropriate for the paper that is loaded in the printer.

It seems to think I have a roll of paper loaded into the machine, which I do not. I'm at an impasse, and would appreciate any help.
