I have read this on the internet from some alumni students.
Have any higher education sources, rejected diplomas from Continental Academy?

I enrolled in the virtual school program in September09. Continental Academy was dropped in 2010 from their accreditation agency
(Southern Association of Colleges and Schools).

I tried returning my diploma and getting a refund but all I got was excuses. I wasted my f**ckn time and money with Continental Academy and got nothing but an expensive piece of paper out of it. THEY SHOULD ROTTEN EVERY NIGHT THEY GO TO SLEEP.

I was in tears when I got rejected from CC and WAS told my diploma was not accredited from Continental Academy and that I would have to get my GED.

Luckily, I heard on the radio about secretgedloophole.com and this time did my research and it turned to be positive since I didnt find anything negative so I joined and completed my High School diploma online 100%. It is properly accredited and I am enrolled at Tri-C in Cleveland Ohio, and they verified my diploma and transscripts and told me they were familar with their recommended schools, so thank god I wasn't scammed twice.

Hope to get Cont Academy closed down.

    Yeap, they lost it.

yes, they did. So disappointing because I just received my diploma from there April 2010. When I went to talk to a counselor at a university (which I am not going to name) she told me that they can't accept my diploma because I graduated after the school lost their accreditation. So now I have to go and get my GED or HSED. I called Continental Academy and talked to a guidance counselor there and she just kept on insisting that I should be able to get into that college. They aren't much help.

No. Unfortunately, you heard wrong.  Through my research I have found that they are accredited and have been continuously accredited by their primary accreditation agency which is the National Association for the Legal Support of Alternative Schools since year 2000. In 2006 they obtained a second accreditation from SACS and WITHDREW from SACS on January 26, 2010. There is a big difference between losing accreditation and withdrawing from accreditation. Continental Academy definitely did not lose their accreditation. For your awareness, SACS is only recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the accreditation of colleges and universities.  SACS is NOT recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the accreditation of any public or private elementary or secondary schools.  My son earned a SACS accredited high school diploma from an online high school similar to Continental Academy and the MARINES DID NOT ACCEPT HIS DIPLOMA! SACS accreditation was worthless and useless for my son. Know the facts – check out the reality at this link http://www2.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/accreditation_pg2.html#U.S.
Note: The U.S. Department of Education does not have the authority to accredit private or public elementary or secondary schools, and the Department does not recognize accrediting bodies for the accreditation of private or public elementary and secondary schools. However, the U.S. Department of Education does recognize accrediting bodies for the accreditation of institutions of higher (postsecondary) education. If an accrediting body which is recognized by the Department for higher education also accredits elementary and secondary schools, the Department's recognition applies ONLY to the agency's accreditation of postsecondary institutions.

yes they lost there accreditation back in january 2010. they had it back in june 2006 but lost it in january 2010. if u dont believe me then call this number 1 800-865-9068 and ask this if they are an accreditated school, and they will give u all the details. see i graduated from there march 9, 2010 and now my diploma is no good i called them and cursed them so bad for making me waste my d**n money and time. no refund by the way cause they r full of lies. do not trust this school i cant even get into a community college cause of this bullshit. i took the pace program which required  i think it was 16 units? i think. called the admissions at this school and asked them y was my transcript not being accepted, they tells me u need 24 units. i said what the f**k? y yall telln me this now. but that wasnt true either. they made that lie up cause they had ran out of things to tell me. i hate this d**n school i hope it burn down, and lose all private operations that they may have, and yes it is a scam and a big rip off! never trust continental academy

The poster that indicated that SACS is not a legitimate accreditor of high schools is dead wrong, and the link offered says nothing about SACS accreditation.

There are six regional accreditors in the US, and they are the gold standard for accreditation both at the secondary level (high school) and at the college level. All legitimate bricks-and-mortar secondary schools and community and 4 year colleges are accredited by one of the regionals.

The so-called "National Association for the Legal Support of Alternative Schools" is a fraudulent accreditor not recognized by US DoEd.

No credible school "withdraws" voluntarily from regional accreditation, though the regionals will sometimes allow a school to do this to save face.

If you want to check on the legitimacy of a school's claims of being accredited by a US DoEd accreditor, use the CHEA.org website.  This is the official accreditor-of-accreditors, and it has the only comprehensive list of accredited schools (provided by each of the individual accreditors they recognize)  You'll see that Continental Academy is not in their database.

Well I found out that they did from a university in the same city they are in. The diploma I got back in 99 is no good either. I cannot believe no one can do anything about these schools ripping off hard working people. So continental academy are crooks.

No. Continental Academy is fully accredited by the National Association for the Legal Support of Alternative Schools and has been continuously accredited by NALSAS since year 2000. Continental Academy was also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools from 2006 to 2010. In 2010, Continental Academy WITHDREW its accreditation from SACS. Continental Academy did not lose their accreditation. Continental Academy is an accredited high school. If it was not for Continental Academy, my son would never have graduated from high school. My son could not graduate from our local public school. Fortunately, there is an alternative school like Continental Academy whereby my son could graduate from high school.

Yes this is a scam, big time. My husband did their eagle program ...started in Dec 2009 and finished in March 2010. He just tried getting a job and they said that this institution is not accredited..and the diploma is worthless therefore he did not get the job. A true waste of time and money.
  11. Guest2720
Yes. I graduated from their EAGLE Program and was able to get a job with my county government as an entry level civil service employee. I have recommended Continental Academy countless amount of times to friends and family who are not able to earn their high school diploma from a traditional public school. Continental Academy is a great alternative program.

I graduated in September of this year from their PACE program. With my Continental Academy diploma I was able to qualify for a security job. I tried public shool and the GED however, it did not work out for me. Continental gave me the opportunity to graduate from high school and get the job that I really wanted. I'm very grateful for the opportunity.

I work at a University and their HS diploma's are only accepted if they were earned between 2006-2010 when they were accredited by SACS
  14. Guest292

I had a very good experience with Continental Academy. I tried night school and the GED several times with no success. I graduated from the pace program and was able to get a job promotion with my high school diploma from Continental Academy. Not everyone can succeed in an attendance based program.

  15. Guest1657

No. Continental Academy is an accredited high school and they are accredited by the National Association for the Legal Support of Alternative Schools (NALSAS) since year 2000. There are many accrediting associations in the United States. NALSAS and the Home School Legal Defense Association have made significant contributions in making homeschooling legal in all 50 states. In my opinion, the best education is for a student to be sitting in front of a teacher in a classroom however, if that cannot happen for whatever reason, Continental Academy is certainly a good alternative. My neighbor’s son graduated from Continental Academy this year, obtained 18 community college credits, and is now serving in the U.S. Army. My neighbor told me that if was not for Continental Academy, her son would have never graduated from high school. I can see that an attendance based high school program is not for everyone.

Yes it is true they are not accredited by a real accreditor.  I have applied to more than 10 different colleges community and university and all applications are rejected on the basis that continental academy lost their regional accreditation Jan 1st 2010.  Furthermore they only had it 3 and a half years.  Every college I apply to also likes to mention that NALSAS is not a qualifying accreditor and has no clout in the education world.  To all of those who got a job for their continental academy diploma, good for you your employers don't care about legitimate diplomas and that certificate you have will work with most employers not requiring you to further your education.  However for everyone else who is interested in going to college and not becoming a security guard for a rest home or taco bell shift manager you will have to find another path.  Thank you continental academy for wasting my time and money.  To the father with the son who got a diploma thanks to this school.  Unfortunately your son will never go to college also thanks to this school.  To all the guests posting this school is accredited, why are you here trying to deceive these people?  You should be trying to help them but I guess if continental is still signing the checks stick to your guns as long as you sleep at night right?

I earned my high school diploma from Continental Academy in August 2010 and I'm currently taking classes at my community college. I plan on being there for two years and will transfer those credits to my state university. I enjoyed Continental Academy's online curriculum and I have no complaints.

  18. Guest3765

No. They have been accredited by NALSAS since year 2000.

I have many freinds who graduated from COntinental Academy BEFORE 2010 and they all go a comminutiy college now. However, I did hear that this same cllege that accepted those peopel, will no longer accept new students with a COntinental Academy diploma, and that is effective Jan. 2010.

If you demonstrate that you have good academic skills by meeting the college's admissions requirements for homeschoolers and having a high score on a standardized test such as the SAT or ACT exam, you have a very good chance of being accepted by the college of your choice. You can walk on ANY college campus in America and not everyone graduated from a SACS or regionally accredited high school.  Students come from all walks of life and not everyone has the academic skills necessary to meet the admissions requirements of the college. I have been homeschooled since third grade and many of my friends that have graduated from a SACS or regionally accredited high school have applied to colleges and the military and they have not been accepted due to the fact that they do not have the ability to meet the admissions requirements.

No. Continental Academy has been accredited by NALSAS since year 2000. I graduated from Continental Academy in 2002 and now have my bachelor's degree in Biology. It's funny how the Continental Academy graduates that are complaining on this page have not talked about returning their diploma. It's obvious that Continental Academy's diploma has value and they have used it or are using it and they have no interest in returning the diploma.
