Hi, I have a Maytag Air conditioner, Model number M7D24E7B, with a code displayed E3.

I would like to know what E3 is, and how to correct it, or what needs to be replaced to get it cleared.

    E3 code. You need to replace the control unit. if you go to repairclinic.com it is part #1191042 I had the same problem. The maytag unit was actually made by fedders who have since gone bankrupt. So if you have a warranty, now you don't. Maytag will not honor it. The controller is $50. AC is working like a charm again.
