    Betfair or any other betting exchange works where one person bets on a selection to win and another bets on the same selection to lose.  person to person betting exchanges connect people with different opinion on sporting events.  

    Betfair betting exchange acts as an exchange between two parties where one is positive the team they are betting on will win and another person is equally positive about the team they are betting on will lose.  both parties put their money and when they agree to odds; the bet is matched.
