I need to know about the treatment of Gastro Esophageal Reflux, what are the methods by which we can treat this disease, what are the medications that need to be followed for this disease?

In order to prevent heartburn, you must avoid foods and other beverages that might trigger the symptoms. For most of the people, they include: Alcohol Caffeine Carbonated beverages Chocolate Citrus fruits and juices Tomatoes Tomato Sauces Spicy or fatty foods Full fat diary products Peppermint Spearmint If some of the other foods give you heartburn, then avoid those type of foods too. Try to include these habits in your eating habits and lifestyles: Avoid bending over or exercising just after eating Avoid garments or belts that fit tightly fit around your waist. Do not lie down with full stomach. For example, try to avoid eating within 2-3 hours of the bedtime. Avoid smoking Try to eat smaller meals Lose weight if you are overweight Reduce stress. Try to Sleep with your head raised about 6 inches. Do this by tilting your bed, you can also do this by putting a wedge under your body, not just with normal pillows. Over the counter antacids might be used after the meals and at the bedtime, although they do not last much long. Common side effects of these antacids include diarrhea or constipation. Anti Reflex operations might be the option for the patients whose symptoms do not go away with the lifecycle changes and drugs. Heartburn and other symptoms should improve after the surgery, but in this case you might still need to take drugs for your heartburn. There are some new therapies available for reflux that can be performed through the endoscope.
