The 2012 BMW 1-Series Coupe joined astonishing, dynamic and unmistakable design elements with a powerful and muscular body. The greenhouse with its feature "Hofmeister kink" is moved rearward and provides a particularly perfect look with its long hood. The short overhangs, long wheelbase and large frameless doors sit on a body with a striking shoulder line for a latest interpretation of BMW's characteristic look. On the 135i Coupe, an M Aerodynamic Kit is utilized.

The 1-Series boasts unique rear end styling. The trunk lid has a connected spoiler chiselled into the rear end of the car to adjust the short rear part. On the 135i, an additional lip spoiler delivers greater down force on the rear end at high speeds. The individual parts within the L-shaped rear taillights provide the vehicle a lower, sportier look. Horizontal parts are integrated in the rear light clusters gives a homogeneous lighting representation. When equipped with Adaptive Xenon headlights, these horizontal instruments are powered by light-emitting diodes (LEDs). This light style, as found on other BMW models, gives the BMW 1-Series Coupe stand out at night. Also, the Adaptive Brake Lights, which handle in two stages associated with brake application force, are yet another characteristic is typical of BMW with the benefit of added safety.
