   We all have to give a speech sometime in our lives. Some, more often than others. But these steps and tips for planning and delivering a speech are to help make it easier for you. Know who your audience is. This will determine how you approach and write your speech. Determine the kind of speech you are giving. Informative (fact based), Persuasive (to do something), or a commemorative speech (talking about a person, place, or event.) Do your research. Different viewpoints add balance and credibility to your speech. Present accurate information and possible new facts or ideas. Get Organized. Be clear. Usually a speech has an intro, body, and conclusion. An intro is supposed to grab the attention of the audience. You could use a story, question, or quote. The body of your speech presents the details. The conclusion is similar to the intro in that you could finish with a quote or story. Write the speech. Ok, if its a short speech, you may only need an outline. If its a longer speech, writing it down would be very helpful. Remember to use good transitions, summaries, and previews. You don't want to give the impression that you are simply reading the speech.
