Writing a speech about pet peeves can incite contagious passion, irritability and laughter. With the right words, you can take your audience on a journey through your most annoying day and leave them venting and rolling their eyes right along with you. Pet peeve speeches can serve a double purpose. While this speech should be entertaining, it can also bring a subtle persuasive message. The audience may find themselves looking at their own behavior in a new light and resolving to abolish their annoying. Narrow down your pet peeves. Decide whether your speech will focus on one pet peeve or several. Many times this decision will boil down to the length of your speech. A short two-to-five minute speech will probably only cover one annoyance. A speech of 10 minutes or longer might be able to fit in multiple topics. If you are speaking about more than one pet peeve, consider keeping them related for smooth segues and a rhythmic flow. For example, you could choose three driving pet peeves: people who don't use their turn signals, people who go too slow in the passing lane, and people who forget to turn off their bright.
