Make the foundation image in Photoshop. The complexity and appearance of the image will vary on skill and preferences.
Copy the image several times. The number of image copies necessary will depend on how many image frames you will need for your animation.
Turn the copies into layers. Photoshop tools allows the use of layering, which stack the images on top of each other. Select the layer option after highlighting all of the copies to form layers.
Work from the bottom layer to the top and add slight changes so the animation is smooth. Depending on the action and changes, the number of layers go up into the hundreds. Label each layer to prevent confusion.
Open ImageReady by selecting it from the Photoshop toolbox. It is the bottom button on the toolbox. It should open both the animation and layers boxes, but if it does not open it immediately, click "Window" and open the missing box.
Select the background layer, which is usually a white, empty box. Turn off the visibility eye by hitting the image of an eye. This will make the layer transparent.
Turn off the visibility for every layer except the bottom, or starting, layer.
Right click on the animation screen and select "Make Frames From Layers" from the menu. This will add the other layers.
Set the timing. The option "Once" is automatically selected in the animation box. To change the timing, open the menu and select the preferred timing options.
