THE ENGINE STARTS AND RUNS ON THE CHOKE AT 2000RPM FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN DROPS TO 8000RPM WHICH IS FINE. HOWEVER SOME MINUTES LATER THE IDLE WILL RACE UP TO 2000RPM CONSTANTLY AS IF WORKING THE ACCELLERATOR PEDAL. THE THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY , WHEN THE COOLING FAN CUTS IN ( I THINK )
THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AFTER THE TIMING BELTS AND WATER PUMP WERE REPLACED. I'VE REPLACED THE THROTTLE POTENTIOMETER BUT NO CHANGE. ANY IDEAS ?

My 2.5 petrol does do this some times, I turn off the fan switch to 'off' it seems to bring the revs down back to normal. I think it's got something to do with the 'idle stabilisation' valve. Try it to see if it helps?
