Hello,

I will be moving along with my husband to Al-khobar in the month of October 2010.We have got a job offer from one of the comapny.

They offered below package

Basic Salary: 10000 (Ten Thousand) SR.
Transport Allowance: 12% of Basic Salary
Housing Allowance: 03 Basic salaries per annum.
Marital Status: Single.

So the actual package is approx : 13700 SR/month

My Question is:
===============

1) I am married having two kids. What will be the approx expenses for 2 kids, one will be in 5th class and second will be in UKG. I heard  about the British and American Internation schools which are costly to afford. So apart from these british/america schools what will be the fees for the good schools in Al-khobar.

2) Which are the good schools in Al-Khobar. As I will be moving from India so is there any Indian schools available in Al-Khobar

3) Is the 13700 SR/Month salary is enough for a family of 4 with 2 schools going kids, I am a person with moderate life style.

4) How much money we will be able to save per month after all the expenses like Rent/Schooling/Groceries/Phone/Electricity etc...

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Zebi,

Hi, welcome to Al Khobar. I am an Indonesian expatriate living in Al Khobar with my wife and 2 small kids.

    1. The American/British Schools are costly. My daughter goes to BISAK and costs SR 35,000 per year. There are several "International" schools in Al Khobar that costs 10-15,000 per year like Asian International School, New World Internatonal School and Manarat Sharkia (Islamic) International School.

    2. There is also the Indian School where most Indian kids go. I think the fee is around SR 200 per months.

    3. The SR 13,700 package you must reduce to find a place to live and a car to get around. 2 BR apartments can be as cheap as SR 15,000-20,000 per year and  SR 20,000-30,000 for 3 BR apartments. Compounds are expensive ranging from SR 100,000 to 200,000. For example I live in a compound that costs SR 165,000 per year (but paid by the company).

    4. For groceries if you are not excessive in consuming foods then SR 1,000 to SR 1,500 should be enough. Electricity depends on usage but SR 300 is about normal. Telephone depends on usage, as a common guide for international calls to my country (Indonesia) is SR 2/minute in the day and SR 1/minute in the off peak hours. For schooling and rent I have answered in the above.

    Hopefully this helps.
