I have an ingrown pimple on my upper lip. It's making my lip look swollen and hurts really bad. I've iced it for a while now and it's not helping. What is something else I can do to reduce swelling and pain?

    Hi There,
Get a washcloth wet with HOT water (as hot as your face can stand). hold it on the pimple. repeat at least 3 times. wash your face really well with hot water and your favorite cleanser. put a good dab of (white and mint paste) toothpaste on it and leave overnight (if you really feel you need to, then stick a bandaid over it to keep your pillow clean, but if you can stay off that side all night then leave it uncovered). your face will feel quite tingly for a while, but that's normal. in the morning, hold the washcloth over it again (at least 3 times) and then wash again with hot water and a cleanser. put some type of benzoyl peroxide acne spot treatment on it.
the toothpaste helps pull the gunk to the surface, and the benzoyl peroxide helps to kill the bacteria that are in the pimple making it exist and hurt. the hot washcloth over it helps to open up your pores, making it easier for the toothpaste to do it's job and pull the gunk out to the surface so the benzoyl peroxide can do it's job.

    Good luck
