I was at McDonald's last night and my 3-year old who is potty training needed to go to the restroom. The playland restroom was being used, so we went into the regular restroom. There were 2 stalls, one of which was wheelchair accessible. We started to enter the first stall and the mental toilet paper holder was open and hanging on the wall. The stall was quite small, so we walked to the other wheelchair accessible stall. There was no toilet seat on it, so back to the first stall we went. I pushed the toilet paper holder up and out of the way and it stayed. I helped my daughter get on the potty and pulled the toilet paper out without any issue. I then bent down to help her and get her pants up when the metal toilet paper holder opened and slammed into my cheekbone. Immediately it started hurting and I helped my daugher get dressed. I looked at my face while washing my hands and there was a red mark on my cheekbone. I walked out of the restroom to the counter and told the employees that the restroom needed attention since the metal toilet paper holder just hit me in the face and I didn't want anyone else getting hurt. I showed them my face and asked if they could see the mark. They said yes. They told the manager and she immediately apologized and offered ice and an incident report. I refused and went back to my family. The manager brought me ice for it and asked again if I wanted to fill out the incident report. I said yes at that point. The manager said she was going to get some scissors and try to do something with the toilet paper holder. At that point another employee walked up and handed the manager a pair of scissors and they walked off. I filled out my "incident" report which was really a document for a witness/employee to fill out that observed someone getting hurt.Does anyone know if they have safety procedures to follow when it comes to restrooms for customers? I'm thinking one of the shifts throughout the day must have been responsible for checking the restrooms and failed to do so. Otherwise, that toilet seat would have been on the toilet and the toilet paper holder would have been fixed. I've read that McDonald's claims that "relentless focus on safety is integrated into every aspect of our operations". Well, I didn't see that in the restroom last night. Are they violating the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)? If I were a disabled person that needed to use the restroom, I would have had no choice but to use the restroom with no toilet seat. That is just WRONG. It states the restrooms need to be accessible. Well, it was accessible, but not usable without a toilet seat, right?Anyway, just looking to see if I'm being to harsh on my expectations of not only a "functioning" restroom by having toilet seats, but also by have a safe one. Thanks for any feedback~
