    Just saw the movie last night. Whats disturbing to me is that the events caused the FBI to do in investigation in the first place...that says something. They lie to the American people all the time and that's a given. To even say THAT many people disappeared due to alcohol and harsh living conditions!! PLEASE!! People that live in Alaska don't consider it "harsh". They love it. I have been there numerous times and had family there at one time. I am fromTexas. I consider it harsh! Ha! They don't! So what if everyone in the movie is an actor/actress? It does not make the events any less real. And, of course they will change the names! One last thing....why do people get so ugly to each other with responses on here just because of differences of opinion? Boggles my mind!!!

    The "real" Dr. Abigial Tyler is played by an actress named Melora Walters.  I am not sure if she is playing Dr. Tyler in the "actual footage."  She looked different in the videos.  I am not sure if it is real, but I have a serious doubts.

    Throughout my research since watching the movie, i have found some to claim that it is real, and some to say that it is not. With the person who said that they went on Wiki, the problem with the information you have observed was that Wiki is all 2nd, 3rd, or more, information. It is what people find and they post, just to anwser. I read on one website, and the person has a point, if the government wants you gone, they will make you "gone". Meaning, Dr. Abigail Emily Tyler could be out there, but the government wants no one to contact her.

    As far as i know, and my experiences, alien abduction and aliens themselves seem to have proven themselves as real as the theroy of ghosts has. I am a skeptic, as well as an open minded person, but when it comes to Dr. Abigail Emily Tyler, i do beileve the events that unfolded in Nome, Alaska are very real.

    The movie said "based off of actual footage", so would that mean that they could also re-enact from the REAL footage for legal reasons? I mean, the government would have confiscated any and all footage pertaining to this case and give people another cover-up excuse.  I would not be surprised if the whole film, including the actual footage, was re-enacted to protect all persons involved.  Just a thought.

    It turns out that you're all morons living in some pre-teen world. This is a movie. That's all. Is the DaVinci Code real? How about 2012? These movies are just based on the simplest of ideas. They extrapolate a neat story from some random thing. The Fourth Kind is based off the fact that a lot of people disappeared in Nome, but the FBI came it and figured out they were drunks. I'm sure there is a lady named Abigail Tyler somewhere in America, h**l, there are like 1200 Jim Browns, so if I say "Jim Brown said this happened!" People will go find Jim and harrass him! Just enjoy movies for their ideas, and don't go into some huge freaked out state. The real question is: Can you escape the Matrix?

    Personally, I think that if you don't believe in something else out there you are purely being ignorant. How in a universe that is constantly expanding can you possibly fully believe that there is no chance of another life form, or millions for that fact. Anyone who can sit there and say without any real facts that NOTHING ELSE EXISTS is an idiot. If there isn't anything out there than the universe is purely a complete waste of space.....     Okay I did just see the movie for the 1st time today and like every one else I went online to see if I could find information about Dr. Abigail Tyler and so on.... Well, I did find the real Dr.Tyler... I googled her and info about her does come up, you just have actually look for it more than just the first page.. Noma Alska is real, Dr. Tyler is real and the accounts of the ppl missing from 1960 - 2002 are real cases... Like I said you have to accutally look past the first page on google.com...

    I find it hilarious that people are still gullible enough to believe these movies are "real." The Fourth Kind is what's called a horror mockumentary... remember Blair Witch, Cloverfield, and Paranormal Activity? It's entertainment with clever marketing... or maybe not so clever since so many are dumb enough to believe it just because Milla Jovovich says it's real. Are we not entertained?

    I watched the movie with my friends today and we aren't sure what to believe. We did some research online but came up empty. This kind of stuff just occur in America. And we wonder if she is a real person or just a character created by the director. We want to believe what happens in the movie but it's also too far from the truth.     No she is not....at least like they say in the movie.  The actresses name who plays Dr. Abigail Tyler is Charlotte Milchard.  She is listed in the credits of the movie.  Google her name....you will see her.  Also, Universal Pictures paid settlements after the movie came out "to settle complaints about fake news archives used to promote the movie."

    there are probably hundreds of abigail tylers.  the "authentic footage" in the movie is not real.  the footage from the police squad car cameras (the man killing his family, the u.f.o.) are shot with MUCH higher grade quality cameras than what is used in actual police squad cars. there is no file footage. as everyone above me has already said, it was clever marketing, nothing illeagle mind you, just clever marketing. there was a heavy f.b.i. presence in nome to investigate around 60 dissapearances, but the results were that they were due to the harsh freezing weather and alchol abuse.  the movie, in my humble opinion, was horrible but the film as i said did have great marketing.  I personally concluded that if the story of abigail tyler was based on a real person the she was clinically insain and probably killed her own daughter and hid the body.

    Stupid, gullible Yanks again, believing that this is real! Remember, they fell for the same s**t when War of the Worlds was first broadcast by Orson Welles on the radio?  People were jumping to their deaths after hearing that aliens had invaded.  Ok, so maybe people didn't react in quite the same manner, probably because of the audience size for this movie - back in those days there wasn't much else but radio, therefore they had a much wider audience.  

    There's too much in the film that doesn't add up, such as: there' no way they'd be allowed to show actual footage of someone killing his wife and kids then turning the gun on himself; the footage on the police camera would definitely have been confiscated by the FBI, CIA or whatever agency and would never have been allowed on air; the police camera footage is just too good - have you ever seen real police video footage? It's nowhere near as clear.

    Also, the 'real' Abigail Tyler is an English actress.  She was probably chosen because she didn't have a huge tv/film career and therefore very few people would recognise her.  Plus, the actress's name goes up at the end.

    So, no people.  She's not real.  Just a very clever viral campaign.  Anyone else who says she is real, or that they know her are clearly pathological liars, or taking the p**s.

    Secondly, search Charlotte Milchard in Google - you will find the exact and very much ALIVE actress who plays Dr Abigale Tyler.

    Thirdly, why is the doctor who was interviewing Dr. Abigale Tyler (Olatunde Osunsanmi) also the director?

    As much as i loved the movie and am very open minded about this type of thing, it is unfortunatly a fake :(

    Sadly, as much as i enjoyed the movie and it did scare me, it is a fake.

    And as for the remark about "War of the Worlds" that was a radio broadcast that sounded so real that is terrified people. Do some research, d**k.

    There are reports of disappearances and more visits to the smaller towns of America by the FBI.

    I did a unit on alien study in Mythology class and when you go in depth on this stuff, there are things that will truthfully frighten you. I'm not one to get scared easily, but these beings are real. They don't speak Sumerian, they don't f**k with tapes and they aren't they type to say that they're god.

    Back to the topic of Dr. Abigail Tyler, i think that there maybe a person who this is loosely based on. LOOSELY is the key word. Just like in Paranormal activity, the footage and events were pure fact but they were loosely based on a case that did happen in that area. As for the Blair Witch Project.. you knew that s**t was fake the moment the second movie came out. But these things DO happen, it's mostly about what you believe about these topics.

If you want to believe in this c**p, then you will no matter how many facts are thrown at you. I thought the movie was good, but a complete lie by univeral. They marketed the film by stating that actul footage will be sprinkled in the movie. The actual footage was recorded for the movie. What else do u need to write it off as another hollywood hoax.

    I know it said that it was based on a true story. I am though convinsed that it might been a place in Alaska, Nome, that had a lot going on, sleep problems and other crazy a*s things! But on the other hand, I saw that "the real" Abigail Tyler was played by an actress.. And if it would have been real, then they just could use her- because she say that she believed in it herself. Then she would be proud of be on a movie thats maid just for her. Don't you think?

    It has been cleared up that Dr. Abigail Tyler, the "real" doctor is played by Charlotte Milchard but lets say for arguments sake this was real... it says at the beginning of the movie that all names were changed... so Abigail Tyler wouldn't be her real name if this was real.. which it isnt.  Oh and the guy interviewing her.. is the director haha this is too funny.

    Thankfully Abigail Tyler is not real. When I watched the movie I was freaked, so I had to find out if this crazy Sumerian alien stuff was true or not for my own peace of mind, and after investigating I can safely say that the 'real footage' is not real. Apparently the blue ray release includes extra footage including the murder suicide, where a person off camera can be heard yelling 'Action!'. The character Abigail Tyler has never lived in Nome and is played by actress Charlotte Milchard, and the amount of times the FBI went to Nome was exaggerated. However, the FBI did go over there numerous times to investigate their high death and disappearance rate claiming it was related to the cold weather and alcoholism, so who knows? maybe a sneaky cover up? If you're into conspiracies than believe what you want, but I'd prefer to enjoy my sleep at night without fearing the possibility of a Godly Sumerian Alien creeping into my bedroom and taking me to his space ship through my ceiling to stick spinning steel probes in my back. Let's face it, if aliens really did that to people then what are they trying to learn from us that they don't already know? Are they just sadists? The world has enough c**p on its plate to not have to ponder these unanswerable questions.

    For the comment number 20298859 listed. i just got one question, has it ever ac cured to you, that we could be the only living beings through out the whole universe? think about it, yes we are living, alive and well.. but come on! through out an billion and trillion stars in space itself, we couldn't possibly be the only living species EVER TO EXIST! who knows why they come to Earth, maybe they were here first? though it's been told they were her before Jesus's birth, but i know God was before anything..     Unbelievable people.. Although thought-provoking, it is.. a movie. Countless posts it this thread have demonstrated that "Abigal Taylor" is a character played by an actress, Charlotte Milchard. If there is any merit to the claims in this film, the only existing supporting documentation- is the film itself. The goal of producers in science fiction works is to create a believable story. "The Fourth Kind" is exactly that. A well-written, entertaining, pseudo-believable work of fiction. Falsely claiming scenes in a work of fiction to be "actual footage" is hardly illegal and therefore a viable method of "proving" reliability. Take it for what it is: entertainment.

    Nome , Alaska (Movie) = Google Maps shows up a Tundra location instead of beautiful Tree location as i would have been expected. So i could not take a look at the house of the movie :(

    Further more i guess the movie will be "hoaxed" in further scary movies parts (5,6,7...) if there will be any in the future.
    I would like to see Dr. Abigail Tyler doing wired stuff with her wheelchair by being interviewed , by the Director. Also with this nice presentation monitor in the background.
    Anyway a good scary movie :)

    this movie had me a little nervous at first.  but after doing some research, i found that dr abigail tyler is well played out by actress charlotte milchard.  doesn't mean that there isn't other intelligent life out there that has come into contact with us.  if they were that much more advanced than us, i'm sure they would be able to be in our presence undetected.  the only answer is that we don't know for sure if we are trying to be contacted until we discover some hard evidence.  anyway, it was a great movie that gets your blood pumping and your hair standing on end!!!

    Dr. Tyler is not a real person. In fact the Dr. Abigail Tyler who was a "real person" on "The Fourth Kind" is also an actress. Her name is Charlotte Milchard. Google it. But i do know that we're not alone in this universe. As one comment said, the government! I do belive humanity is being tricked by many many "higher" ppl, as the government.     Theory 1 - the movie could be a fake and all this hype was built up for the movie and Dr. Tyler doesn't exist.


    Theory 2 - this story or a similar story actually could have taken place.  If the government was/is covering it up they probably ended up locking her away somewhere in some psych hospital all drugged up under another name.  Probably because she ended up uncovering (by chance) something our government didn't want us to know.

They made the writers of the forth kind put some things in the movie to make it seem fake., Like the levitating seen. They used to actresses because Dr. Tyler never appreared in public after the incident.     Personally I think the film is, like others in the genre, a complete waste of ones precious day.  Sad to say I wasted my time watching this bag of shite!  The acting is poor the plot is based on an age old tail that has as much weight as being told the Earth is flat .. Yes you heard it first it really is flat!


    The thing that gets me is people think you are being narrow minded and ego-centric for being astute enough to realise it's not real, IT"S A MONEY MAKING MOVIE! 


    Yes I think there is a very strong possibility that life exists out there, somewhere?  But to think aliens travel to earth to prod and probe a few Alaskans or indeed any other human being after beaming them up on a ray of light is beyond me.  It just doesn't happen if it did we would all know about it.


    If I'm wrong and they do visit us I'd like to personally thank the aliens for being so considerate to the human race. Going about their business privately and choosing to experiment on the 'nut jobs' of our world instead of our world leaders or indeed our brainy types advancing our own civilisation is a really good thing.

    maybe she isn't real. i've only been looking for the truth about it for about 10 minutes and found all kinds of sites showing that she's not. but other sites saying that events did happen in that area and all over the world for that matter. but as for all the people that get on here and try to belittle or make fun of the people who get online and try to search for the truth. take a look in the mirror and ask yourself what kind of person are you. curiousity goes all the way back to when humans first started to exist. people want to know whats really out there, whats in store for us. they want to know if abductions can really happen. Dont crush them down. they're only curious. if it helps them sleep better at night to know whether or they could be abducted then let them search. i myself believe stuff like that can happen. i dont try to sell to everybody else i just do the research in my own time. this isn't to make anybody angry or start anything i'm just saying. what is the point of dragging somebody down because they are curious and want to know if the stuff is real or not. we all know that the government covers stuff up and we of course continue to try and find out what it is they hide but that stuff has been happening since a government has been in existence. for all we know the government has a slew of prototype aircraft that can make a 10 G turn and keep going or maybe they are even the ones that abducting people maybe there are really are other species able to visit our planet or already here. you never know.

    I think most people on here would agree the argument for life out there is very likely.  The point is and I think it's equally arrogant for people to presume that of the entire vastness of space that Aliens quietly sneak to Earth and snatch humans for experimentation.




    I think it is unlikely that governments have some secret Alien technology, but I'm sure they are happy and it's to their benefit to let us all believe they are covering up and hold the key Pandora's Box.

     No, Abigail Tyler is not a real person. That does not change the fact that some inexplicable things have taken place in Nome, AK. Do the research. What was said at the end of the show about the number of times that the F.B.I. has been to Nome is true. If the question is, "Are we alone?" the answer is a resounding no. Also, if the question is, "Are we being abducted?" it's impossible to say. If we are, theres no evidence of it, only hear say. That's not to say that we are not because if we are, do you really think that an alien or ET would be so dumb they would leave any evidence. If they were or are advanced enough to cross light years of space to get here, I don't think they would. At best this is all theory anyway.

    Ok, so why would Universal make fake obituaries for this film if it was real? Wouldn't they already exist? Maybe they were covered up and that's why they made them so there was some proof? HOW WOULD THEY KNOW IT WAS UNIVERSAL THAT MADE THEM?!?!?


    Who knows. BUT my brother claimed he remembered seeing that video on CNN of her interview ten years ago when it happened. BUT these disapearences WERE real, the FBI investigated many cases and claimed they were ALL caused by alcohol and cold temps. wtf is that? Out of the population of 3500 and 20+ people disapeared from alcohol?!?! That's complete bs. The other main thing is why would the studios use two different actors for the movie instead of just using Milla Jovovich for the whole thing, just to make it real and look like based on actual events? I'm sure they would of known the controveries to follow after the fake obituaries, would they really be so stupid to do that? Maybe they thought they would make enough off the movie that it wouldn't matter. Maybe the government covered everything up and they paid the $20 million dollar fine. Again, who knows.
