   Toyota says that its new museum in Torrance, California, is not only about cars – instead it is about people. Although this may seem like an odd statement from one of the world's most successful car manufacturers . In the museum you will find that Toyota's cars aren't meant to define life, but they are here to complement it. Ranging from the year 1958 and then extending it into the future, the more than 100 cars kept here the more they reflect the cultural influences that shape design.
   
   Sedans which were from the early 1960s have unique and classy chrome accents, narrow tires, and wide seats. These machines were meant for displaying style and also comfort, but not necessarily speed. In the 1970s, cars became streamlined with sleeker designs, yet they maintained small engines and become smaller in size with the emphasis on economy. In the '80s, there were sportier cars with the smaller backseats and with more powerful engines. Economy was still pretty much a focus, but some performance was thrown in.
   
   By the '90s, cars like Toyota's Supra sports car and mid-engined MR2 Turbo showed that speed is an important aspect and it is almost everything. Styling in this decade was rounded yet aggressive on sports cars, and sedan styling that had European influences with the addition of Lexus. Current cars display and reflect Toyota's focus on the environment. Drivetrains and aerodynamics rule over style, and hybrids taking center stage. The future concepts in the Toyota museum show a reemergence of style which also has blend of technology.
