Maytag dryer does not ignite

   It seem like it operate but it will not heat up. How do you check the system? Please explain how you get to the vas valve or igniter? I can't seem to find the latch to get the top of the cabinet off. What's the trick!
   
   Answer You remove the top by opening the door and looking up. You will see 4 screws. Remove them.
   This will allow the top to be opened up.
   
   To get to the gas valve you pop out the louvered door at the right bottom. there is your burner assembly. Disconnect the power cord, shut off the gas unscrew the gas line nut and disconnect the 2 wires to the burner and remove the hold down screws. Remove the burner assembly carefully. Look for a bad igniter, flame switch, coils or valves or bad timer or broken wire. Buy a GE dryer service manual
   
   
   
   
   Dryer Won't Ignite #2
   The dryer will not ignite the burner. I checked to make sure power was going to all connections/power good. the thermostats were good. the burner just stopped working
   
   1. I would check the glo bar or igniter, It might be broken. It is mounted at the end of the burner.
   2. Check the flame switch which is mounted on the flue where the flame is sucked into. It senses the heat of the flame and then turns off the igniter, It turns on the igniter when it is cold.
   3. The split coils on top of the valve may be dead or not opening the flow of gas. It makes a click sound when the dryer is turned on.
   4. the motor has a switch that closes to send current to the burner assembly, if bad no juice, no flame.
   5. Control Timer- contacts may be open or burnt."
