Memory is a wonderful gift of mankind, still not fully understood and explored by science. It’s a complex method of storage and retrieval of information from our brains.

However, there are several killers that can affect this human marvel. Short term and long term memory can be messed up by some of the killers.

Smoking: With that every drag of nicotine that damages your lungs, it affects your long term memory as well. It has a long term adverse effect, signs of which are often visible at late adulthood. Marijuana screws your short term memory.

Malnutrition: See that you are consuming a balanced diet. Lack of glucose also makes you lose your memory.

Herpes: Herpes, especially simplex encephalitis is a killer of the memory. The inflammation of the brain can cause severe damage to the central nervous system. The herpes infection travels to the brain through the nerves.

Drinking: That last night out when you totally passed out may wipe out your memory for a night. Continue to do so regularly, you may just lose your memory on a long term basis.

Other factors like hypnosis or even stress, can affect your memory. Avoid the above factors as much as possible, and you’ll turn out to be a smart oldie and difficult to con at that age.
