Britain has waited an agonisingly long time for a Grand Slam champion, and Andy Murray is the current hope to break a drought that has lasted since the 1930s. The Scot can hardly escape that expectation in at Wimbledon, and his semi-final appearance there indicated he coped with any added pressure at his home Grand Slam. Certainly, there is an expectation that the world No. 2 progresses further than the 4th round at the US Open, but his loss - though comprehensive in the end - was to a seeded opponent.
