   Hi,
   When an electric hot water heater does not produce hot water anymore...is it the heating element, the safety or the thermostat or a shorted wire or the breaker or or or....Get the drift?  Bottom line is I am not there to see it so you have to be my eyes and ears. First thing you must do is to isolate whether the problem is in the dryer itself or in the gas valve or one of it's components.   You have a voltage meter?  Find the wires to the gas valve from the dryer portion and access the voltage check at this point.  When the dryer thermostats call for heat, they allow the 110 volts to go the the gas valve assembly.  The gas fires up and then shuts down when the thermostats are satisfied.  You need to determine...should you choose to accept this assignment, whether the voltage is present when the gas valve does not fire up.
