After using the self cleaning cycle which never completed the key pad no longer responds. I unplugged and plugged back in no help. Oven no longer works but the clock is still on.

    hi,
The "repair man" showed up on Sept 9 as promised. He spent all his time on the phone (my phone at that as he didn't have one) getting instructions from someone else on what to do. He had no parts with him and "they" wouldn't allow him to take the front panel off with a technician. He did absolutely nothing except tie up my phone and leave nasty fingerprints all over my stainless steel.

Set up appointment for today, Sept 13. A different repair guy came today and he did seem to have a little more on the ball but didn't have the parts needed and made another appointment for Sept 21. Will update again then. On May 30 we purchased nearly 9000 worth of KitchenAid appliances for a kitchen remodel (frig, dishwasher, cooktop and oven/micro combo). The appliances were installed June 30. On August 22 the microwave quit microing. Looks like it's working except nothing gets hot. On Monday August 24 I called KitchenAid. I was told A & E Factory Service would be here between 8 and 5 on August 31 (that's 1 week). I took the day off and they called at 1 in the afternoon saying they couldn't make it until Wednesday, Sept 2 (9 days) again between 8 and 5.

I called KitchenAid to complain and was told they didn't have any other service people for this area and Wednesday was the first day they could be here. I agreed to that and when I went to write it on my calender noticed I had to take my mother to the doctor that day. I called to reschedule and was told Sept 9 (16 days)! So for my 3200 purchase all I get is "I'm sorry" and the repairs will be done on Sept 9. We've gotten less than 2 months service from this microwave. I will never purchase anything else with the KitchenAid name.

The Kitchenaid microwave that I bought, model KHMS155L, has become a safety hazzard. It starts all by itself in "Pan" mode. It also started by itself with F2 on the display. Luckly we were at home when it happened. I believe that if we had not turned it off it could have very possibly started a fire. The microwave was very hot and getting hotter. It is now unplugged and useless. At the very least, Kitchenaid should issue a recall on this dangerous product. Better, they should issue a recall and refund the money. I paid top dollar for what I thought was a superior product. Hopefully some of our consumer protections will come into play.
