I have a friend on the phone right now with this same problem!  So, I'll help you while I'm helping her...

Beeping noise:  this unit draws its power from the computer.  If you are trying to plug it into a keyboard or front-of-the-computer USB ports, they probably don't supply enough power.  The fix is to plug the 2 USB cables into the BACK of the computer where they are higher powered.

Next...  If it doesn't recognize the drive (when in Windows), it's probably formatted for Macintosh (HFS).  Use the utilities that come with the Iomega to re-format it for Windows.  Then it'll show up in "My Computer"

If you are trying to use this as a go-between a Mac and a PC and you want to be able to read and write on both platforms, make sure you format the drive "Fat32".  Macs can read NTFS, but not write.  Mac can read and write Fat32 - as does Windows.

    Hope this helps!
