To gel the two better, there is Nomadic Device Integration (NDI) System concept designed by Joshua Saling, which is practically to allow for integration of many devices in cars.
   As an individual user, you can define your preferences, widgets, colours, fonts and profiles according to your own taste, in effect get to customize the devices available. The system is so equipped to recognize the mobile devices attaced, and displays its options in a text format.
   Since different devices tend to have different user interface, using a text format allows this system to communicate with each device, simpler and better.
   At the moment, it is a concept, but looks promising enough.
