     On March 27, 1513, Easter, Juan Ponce de Leon a Spanish explorer and treasure hunter alleged the land of the land now famous as Florida. He was the first famous European to set leg on the soil. Juan labelled the land La Florida or the Land of Flowers because that's what he observed upon his arrival.
