FACEBOOK NOW TWO-FACEDBOOK? Why would Facebook stop you from adding poeple with whom you have many friends in common? Why Facebook would like you to friend ONLY people uou already know in the "real" world? The answer is simple - soon Facebook will to use you as an unpaid spokesman to your friends. If you "LIKED" a product / service / page on Facebook or another site, Facebook may tell your friends what you "Liked" in an ad that appaers on the side ---->. They will show your picture in the ad and tell all your friends you approve of the product or service. And no, they don't need your permission, because the OWN any content you post on Facebook (read the user agreement).
Now back to the question of why they will not allow adding people outside of your current circle of friends. Well, thier new ad scheme to work can olny work if they market you to you "closest" friends - those with whom you have a stong reputation.
I have already removed my photos and my "Likes" - save for one.
