I want to know some details about mermaids. Someone please tell me about mermaids? Are they real or imaginary creatures?

Mermaids are complete mythological creatures, there concept originated in the Greek mythology, when a Greek goddess, fell in love with a mortal sheperd. in order to attain his love, she crossed all limits, but in the end murdered him brutally. She couldnot overcome her remorse and jumped in the ocean, but ocean couldn't hide her heavenly beauty, and transformed her in to a fish creature, having human torso and a fish tail.
Mermaids are also found in the Chinese folklore, where they are known to have heavenly voices that lure fishermen, in to their trap, these poor fishermen in the end become their prey.
