In Osteoarthritis, the cushioning that is present between the bones, starts to wear out. And as the condition becomes worse the cartilage starts disappearing and eventually completely wears out and the bones rub on the bone. The Bony spurs or the growths form around the joint. The ligaments and the muscles around the joint loosen and become much weaker. The real cause of Osteoarthritis is unknown. It is associated with aging, but there are other factors can also lead to the Osteoarthritis.

The Osteoarthritis tends to run in the families

Being overweight also increases the risk

In some cases there are fractures who become responsible or lead to this disease in the later life

Long Term work or sports can also lead to the Osteoarthritis.

There are some medical conditions that can also lead to the Osteoarthritis and they are:

Bleeding disorders can also result in bleeding in the joint, such as hemophilia.

Disorders that block the supply of blood near a joint, such as avascular necrosis

There are other types of Arthritis like Chronic Gout, Pseudo gout or Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Symptoms of Osteoarthritis appear in the middle age and most of the people who have this disease their symptoms start appearing after the age of 55. Before the age of 55 the condition of this disease is almost same in both men and women. As the age progresses and it crosses the limit of 55 years the condition becomes more common in women.
