Here are some current educational news in Philippines:

    NEWS 1:
The office of the Rep. Vincent Garcia of the second congressional district here has allocated over P4 million for 972 scholars college education.

Garcia said the amount will cover tuition and other spending of the scholars taking undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) for the first semester of school-year 2009-2010.

    NEWS 2:
Six months after its groundbreaking, the ceremonial ribbon of the three-hectare campus of Kananga EDC Institute of Technology (Keitech) was cut by local government and company officials of Kananga and Energy Development Corp. (EDC) led by its Chairman Oscar Lopez.

Located on what used to be an airstrip between the upland barangays of Hiluctogan and Rizal in neighboring Kananga town, the sprawling campus now has 15 structures consisting of a multi-purpose hall with kitchen for commercial cooking, and food & beverage services, an administrative/office building, classrooms, computer lab, dormitories, and workshops for masonry, plumbing, carpentry and welding, services.

Next month, five more buildings will rise, the track and field oval will be rubberized, and the soccer and baseball field will be developed. The institution has the potential to expand further considering the adjoining areas totaling 16 hectares are also owned by EDC.

    NEWS 3:
At least 150 scholars will receive “Pangulong Gloria Scholarship” (PGS) vouchers during the big 111th Philippine Independence Day celebration on Friday 12 in Surigao City.

The qualified and pre-selected scholars came from the Surigao del Norte College of Agriculture and Technology and Provincial Manpower and Training Center.

The distribution of PGS vouchers is in line with the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP).

Aside from the PGS distribution, the Department of Public Workers and Highways (DPWH) in Surigao del Norte and Surigao City will also conduct jobs fair on Friday.

Also in line with the CLEEP program, DPWH District Engineering Office 1st Engineering District Engineer Linda Uypala, said that several local construction firms will participate in the job fair activity in Surigao City.
