The Toyota Highlander has been a favorite SUV for all of the families as it came to market in the year 2001. It was the carlike, midsize alternative to the off-road themed, like the tricky 4Runner. The first Highlander Hybrid followed, went on sale in the year 2005. The second generation Highlander arrived in the year 2008 and it was 3.8-inches longer, 3.3-inches wider, and also 2.8-inches taller than before. The current Highlander has a storable second row and also five-passenger seating is standard.

There are three sources of power for the new 2011 Toyota Highlander. The 2.7-liter, 187-horsepower four-cylinder is combined to a six-speed automatic and is available in only front-wheel drive configurations. The 270 horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 is then combined to a five-speed automatic and is also offered with front- or all-wheel drive. The Hybrid features a version of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive system that features a 209-horsepower, 3.3-liter V-6 paired with two of the electric motors that produce a total of 270 horsepower. It uses and utilizes an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission.

Engine specification of Toyota Highlander is given below:

    The Range

    Body styles: Sport/utility vehicle

    Engines: 2.7L I-4, 3.3L V-6, 3.5L V-6

Transmissions: 5-speed automatic, 6-speed automatic, continuously variable transmission

Models: Base, Sport, Limited, Hybrid, Hybrid Limited

    Exterior

This shape of this generation Highlander is more rounded than the last generation; it looks much more like a crossover than the traditional sport/utility. Seventeen-inch wheels are normally standard; 19-inch alloys, foldable power heated side-view mirrors, and chrome accents are some of its features.

    Interior

The Highlander has seven seats, but five seats come standard. Second row is now removable, and leather seats plus 10-way power driver seat are also available. There is a six speaker audio system fitted in the vehicle.
