The Toyota Avanza is a small sized MPV that is designed and produced in Indonesia. It is also assembled in Malaysia under the supervision of Toyota. This car was first launched in the Gaikindo Auto Expo in the year 2003 and also it sold more than 100,000 units that year. The name Avanza was taken from the Italian word avanzato which means advance. The Avanza is a new model which is developed as a premier MPV to split the Toyota Kijang into two different models, the older one was the Toyota Innova, which is of higher specifications and is aimed at the higher specifications. In addition to the countries like Indonesia and Malaysia, the Avanza is sold in Brunei, Bangladesh, Egypt, Lebanon, Pakistan, Phillipines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Mexico, it is unrelated and similar to Scion xB that is sold in the United States and China. The model is a five door MPV with the FR layout. It features a 1.3 litre gasoline inline four engine that has a maximum output of 6000 rpm, and a 1.5 litre gasoline engine as it produces at 6000 rpm. The Toyota Avanza was updated in the year 2008 as it has the new ceiling with grooves to improve airflow to the rear and also to the new color scheme.
