Staple food is a certain food that is consumed in such high quantities that it is seen as a part of a standard diet for a given population. Only a small portion of the total amount of food in the word is seen as a staple food and usually offers nutrients and minerals and can also offer carbohydrates, proteins, and or fats, which are key attributes to survival and health. Some examples of staple foods are corn, wheat, rice, and potatoes.
