I tend to know the circumstances I will be in if I get the overpayments by the UK government

    If you know you have been overpaid but do not do anything about it, you could be suspected of committing benefit fraud and If you are prosecuted for benefit fraud you could be fined or get a prison sentence, as well as having to repay the overpayment.
