There is treatment available that can help in the controlling the inflammation of the airway. In order to treat Asthma both doctor and yourself should work together as a team in order to formulate a plan for the treatment of asthma and also to monitor its symptoms. There are main two kinds of treatment for the Asthma:

One is Long acting medication in order to prevent attacks

While the other is Quick relief medications during attacks.

The Long term medications are used on a regular basis in order to prevent attacks but not to treat them. These medicines include:

Inhaled Corticosteroids like Azmacort, Vanceril Flovent in order to prevent inflammation.

Leukotrine Inhibitors are used such as Singulair and Accolate.

Long Acting Bronchodilators such as Serevent are used to open the airways.

Omilizumab is used to block the pathway that the immune system uses to trigger the Asthma symptoms.

People with mild Asthma may use quick relief medication as required. Those who have persistent asthma should take medications which are prescribed by the doctor on regular basis in order to prevent symptoms. A severe asthma attack requires daily check up by doctor, a possible stay at the hospital, oxygen and also medications through the vein. There is a peak flow meter that is a simple device required to measure the quickness of air flow out of your lungs. It will also help in seeing if any future attack is now starting to attack or coming, it can even check it before the symptoms appear.

The doctors use stethoscope to listen to the lungs. The sounds of Asthma can be heard. The lung sounds are normally normal occur between asthma episodes.

The tests may include the Arterial blood gas

Another type of test include blood tests in order to measure the count

Chest X-ray is also conducted for the test of Asthma

Lung function tests are also sometimes helpful for determining the Asthma.

Peak flow measurements are used to determine the level and extent of Asthma.
