    Pedro Alvares Cabral was the first European to explore Brazil. He was a Portuguese nobleman, military commander, navigator, and explorer and he was sponsored by the Portuguese Crown. He was appointed a fleet sailing to India on February 15, 1500. Cabral departed on March 9, 1500, and landed on Monte Pascoal on April 22, 1500.
