Why can't you feel a mosquito bite?

    When a mosquito lands on you and decides to suck your blood it first injects a small amount of its saliva to help numb the area so you don't notice you're being bitten, which at that point begins to suck your blood.  That very same saliva is the cause for itchy spot left behind when the mosquito is done feeding
