Why do I need to provide supporting documents for UK’s visa?

I am applying for United Kingdom’s visa, Should I submit original documents or can I submit only photocopies of these documents.

    It is the rule of United Kingdom immigration policy that it the candidates job to get visa from the Visa officer and convince him for UK’s visa, however it is essential that the original documents are required otherwise our application will be rejected.
